Places of Interest
Idalico Palace: Once the castle of adil shahs it was rebuilt by the portugues in 1615 & until 1759 it was the viceregal palace , in1843 it became the secretariate & now houses passport office.
Fort Aguada:
The Fort ,built in 1612 at a distance of 19km from Panaji at the mouth of Mandovi river had the first light house in ASIA equipped with a room for ammunition ,barracks &a church .
It was a place of strength & power. It houses a jail today. Agua means water in Portuguese. It is said that once this place had seven fountain &the ship used to halt here for collecting sweet water.
