Gulmarg:
In Spring, Gulmarg lives up to its name , which means "Meadow
of flowers" ; its a large upland meaows 52 km southwest of
Srinagar. In summer, the place is packed with daytrippers from
Srinagar giving the place a busy air out of keeping with its
other-wise tranquil surroundings -for some great winter, Gulmarg is
India's major ski resort. The road to Gulmarg spectacularly climbs

Sonmarg:
A cluster of buildings strung-out along the highway, Sonamarg
is the last town of Interst on the raod to Ladhakh. Its name means
meadow of Gold, and it sits in a gorgeous location in the cleft of a
sweeping wooded valley. In happier times Sonamarg was popular with
trekkers. Its still possible to do day walks, but take heed of the
current security situation before setting out. Sonamarg is
currently home to Kashmir's largest army base.
