To reach Ranthambhore National Park, you have to first arrive at what was once the longest railway station in the world, Sawai Madhopur. You can take a trip along the rivers Chambal in the South and Banas in the North bounding the Ranthambore National Park. Located amidst the imposing ruins of a 10th century fort, you will be extremely attracted towards the lakes and many streams, intersecting the entire park.

Wildlife Viewing
You need not worry about accommodation as there are resorts springing up almost along the entire length of the road from Sawai Madhopur to the park. After entering the Park, the first few animals you may come across are cattle, gazelle and a bunch of langurs. A little further, you can stop at a small lake known as the "Malik Talao". This is an absolutely must visit, as there is a large variety of birds along with a fair share of marsh crocodiles.

To view the entire flora and fauna of this park, plan a stay of at least one night and two full days. Wildlife safaris in Ranthambore are usually undertaken in open jeeps. Though the tigers of Ranthambore are extremely vary of any vehicles in their vicinity. If your luck favors, you will certainly catch hold of the majestic sight of tigers. 

Ranthambhore Fort
After scrutinizing the wildlife, opt to explore the Ranthambore fort. Situated within the reserve, its entrance is right next to the park's main gate. As you climb the fort's steps, the more fascinated you will be by the awesome view it offered of the entire park. On reaching the highest point, you can clearly see all the animals roaming below. Your walk takes you to various historic structures that are unique in terms of design, aesthetics and quality. 

How to Get there
Air: Jaipur at 145-kms is the nearest airport from Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary.

Rail: Ranthambore National Park is around 11-kms away from Sawai Madhopur railway station, that lies on the Delhi to Bombay trunk route.

Road: A good network of buses connect Sawai Madhopur, the nearest town from Ranthambore to all the major cities within the state of Rajasthan.
